NOCTI Visual Communications and Multimedia Design Practice Exam

The correct answer is based on the four-color printing process commonly known as CMYK, which stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. This color model is primarily used in color printing where these four ink colors are combined in varying percentages to produce a wide range of colors on printed media.

In the CMYK model, cyan and magenta absorb red light, yellow absorbs blue light, and black (often referred to as 'K' for key) enhances depth and detail in the printed result. This process is foundational in print design because it allows graphic designers to use a standard palette to create the full spectrum of colors needed for high-quality print materials.

The other options mention colors that are part of different color models, such as RGB (Red, Green, Blue), which is used for digital displays, or traditional color wheels that often include primary colors and secondary colors for painting and mixing, but they do not apply to the CMYK printing process. Understanding the CMYK model is essential for anyone working in print design, as it directly influences how colors are represented in the final printed product.
